Always a good idea when you spend a non-trivial amount of money.
However, it isn't always easy to find the answer to a very specific question.
----
I have a TC Electronic BMC-2 DAC with switchable coax and Toslink inputs hooked up to my MusicPC and my personal PC in my home office. Very convenient and better sound than analog output from a Juli@ card (somewhat) or from a RealTek ALC887 onboard sound chip (more obvious difference.) At less than $ 300, the BMC-2 was an obvious bargain. At $ 500 now, it is just one of many choices.
If TC Electronic made a USB version of the Konnekt 6, I'd consider it for output from my MusicPC to my library system.
The Roland quad-capture and octa-capture audio interfaces look interesting for that use as well.
