You seem to be hesitant to post any subjective test results to back up your claims ???
BTW, just tried a USB3 attached drive on the PREEMPT_RT kernel and there are absolutely no USB CPU spikes. What am I doing wrong ??? The CPU load actually went down compared to pulling the files from the windows network neighborhood shares and that was with prebuilt kernels.
I don't understand why I need to hand build kernels these days when I can get a 300X reduction in latencies by pulling prebuilts directly from the repositories ??? I used to hand build kernels all the time and haven't found a need to do so now.
