I'm using AVM Fritzboxes (router/repeater). I guess these are not that common in US.
However. They do offer mesh networking.
I'm living in a 3 story house with very poor WLAN spread from a single device.
I tried powerline networking and also tried repeaters.
Not acceptable!
IMO the only way to get serious and stable coverage for me was to run a cable to each floor and attach FritzBox Repeaters configured as wired bridges. These can also work in a mesh config.
My main video streaming devices are hardwired for best performance.
In the living room I therefore run an ethernet hub. That's where the Repeater and Apple TV gets hooked up.
Yep. High performance networks need some serious planning and investment...
...and maintenance too!
