Let's revisit the rules, shall we?

Generally a MMS (manufacturer/marketer/seller-dealer) can only comment in any particular forum to answer a direct question about their own product(s,) or to clear up any misinformation regarding their own product(s).

Over the almost 17 years of Audio Asylum and over the almost 16 years that I've been moderating the various 'digital' boards, the rules have kind of evolved based on the core inmates for any given asylum--that is to say that some inmates don't care for any, or little, 'industry contributions' and other asylums enjoy and appreciate a MMS's input, as long as things don't get blatant and posts become mere shills.

This brings us to 'me!'

I've always considered myself one of the more 'lenient' moderators...at times to my detriment, preferring to give people more than enough to rope to hang themselves and thereby wash my hands of any ambiguity, as to whether that person needs to be 'disappeared.'

I don't mind a little interaction about a particular DMM's product if it's germane to the thread and the DMM doesn't go initiating the topic, which we seem to have here--not once, but twice.

On top of that, the DMM is actually modding somebody else's body of work and well, that might be slightly bad form, even though it's helpful to others.

Jkeny has been here for a long time and I'm not going to trash the threads that he started, but we have to at least appear that we're trying to follow the rules.

Chris
