I didn't suggest using the Regen's 3.3V regulator to trickle charge a LiFePO4 battery but I was asked about doing this & said it should be OK to try it. It's OK as long as the battery, on first connection, isn't low in charge.
I still wouldn't suggest it as the optimal solution & it requires care - care that the battery never goes into a low charge state as it will then attempt to draw a lot of current from the regulator. I would anticipate that if there is thermal cutout on the regulator then it will stop supplying current to the battery & will cool down. But I still wouldn't suggest trickle charging from the Regen's regulator as the best permanent solution.
I would not & never did suggest using a LiFePO4 charger on the battery while it is connected to the Regen - as in it's constant current phase it can reach unknown voltages (only the current is regulated, not the voltage) - never mind the fact that in it's constant voltage phase it is regulated to 3.6V output
