problem with m2tech young dsd dac

Music servers and other computer based digital audio technologies.

In the middle of playback, the system hangs: the dac goes into a protection mode of sorts, with the screen off, blue power light blinking, output muted; the player stops.

To get it back going I need to hit the power button and unmute the dac; close and reopen the player. Happens roughly once every 45 min.

I tried reinstalling the driver and tweaking Young's adjustment options (e.g. regular mode, safe mode, etc) all of which had zero effect on the problem.

Very frustrating.

Any idea what is likely going wrong here?

The system:
Lenovo X301; W10; JRMC18 WASAPI; USB out straight into M2Tech Young DSD dac.
