Hi and thanks for the valuable advice.
But let me rephrase the question.
What a renderer does that a pc cannot do ?
On principle i guess nothing.
I completely agree that to set up a pc to playback well audio stream is a challenge and i understand completely who prefer the renderer solution.
I think that the problem with PC is much more a SW problem than a HW problem. Much much more.
Because while renderers come with a proprietary (i guess) OS dealing only with audio the pcs come with OS overloaded with feautures.
And on top of that usually are connected to the net and all the garbage that flows in it.Then there is another point ... the average price of the renderers.
Usually they have only to stream some files from a NAS to an usb dac.
Is this task so demanding to require very expensive units ?
I think that a decent pc with the right complement of OS and player SW can be a very competent audio streamer/renderer.
For instance i am using now a usb to AES converter.
In my own system i do not hear much of a difference between a Pipo X/ with 8.1 and other two cheap Android media players with the signal taken from their usb ports. They sound almost the same.
I could live very well with any of them.
The issue maybe could be drivers availability (not my case).
Maybe i am completely wrong.
Thanks a lot again.
Kind regards,
bg
