Why bother with this?

There have been many previous experiments measuring speaker cable differences with more appropriate measurement techniques and more sensitive equipment. So what was the point of this?

In a previous blog post, Archimago measured his speakers with the grilles off and the response was ~2 dB higher throughout most of the treble. He says this is "quite small" and he hasn't heard much difference over the years with different speakers, so he listens with grilles on. To me, that is just baffling. If you don't care about gross differences on the order of 2 dB over multiple octaves, what are you doing messing speaker cables?
