Tube analysis via DC offset screw position

0

Regarding M-60's in the old style chassis, is there any way to tell which bank of four output tubes would be the one likely to contain a weak/underperforming tube based on how much racheting down has to be done on the DC ofset adjustment screw in either the clockwise or counterclockwise position in order to re-establish zero DC offset? For example, rezeroing DC offset requires screwing adjustment screw clockwise to the absolute limit of its range so this is telling me the bum tube{s} should be located in bank....? Also, while on the subject of DC offset, when using a hand held MM instaed of the built-in one is it still necessary to depress the DC offset switch on the face of the chassis or just attach the two MM clips to the appropriate posts and adjust away?
Any insight on these two matters would be appreciated as electronics, by nature, are not my cuppa. Thanks.
