In addition to the info provided by Shep, the factory does have an option for installation of
Jensen step-up transformers. The principle use of this upgrade has been to enable one to do
away with the dual-differential cascode input stage in favor of a simpler dual-differential input
stage. The combination of the Jensens plus dual-differential stage gives about as much gain as
does the standard dual-differential cascode input stage. However, obviously the Jensen
transformer option could be used to enable one to run v low output MCs with the MP1, by simply
not bypassing the cascode circuit. A discussion with Ralph or Mark Gilmore should enlighten you
as to the possibilities. The cost of installing top quality Jensen transformers right into the MP1
chassis is quite reasonable.
