OTL, Output Transformerless Amplifier User Group.

Hey man

Relax. I really am trying to help, not be a killjoy. It's too easy to take offense when someone spoils your good karma by raising a flag or two. As I said, I don't recommend hooking up 4 ohm speakers to the amps. They'll work, but it may be a matter of time before something fries. Forget what you may have read about putting out a lot of power into low impedances, 'cause it isn't true. OTLs such as Futtermans like high impedances. For example, if all speakers were benign 16 ohm loads, a lot more people would be running OTLs. That's not real world, so one workaround is to use the autoformers mentioned. Not a panacea, though. One more thing. It's probably true that some people have found Futtermans relatively trouble free. Due to the previously mentioned characteristics Fourier amps have, I suggest it pays to give special attention to speaker impedance. And keep speaker cables short.
