This is completely anecdotal. I've never done a controlled study or anything approaching one. But I've never met a silver-plated copper wire that I really liked in my system. Either all-silver OR all-copper have always seemed a better way to go, to me. In fairness, once I developed that bias, I ceased to LISTEN to silver-plated copper. Also, among the most egregious offenders were any of the Nordost spkr cables that are made of silver-plated copper strands (Blue Heaven and Red Dawn). Used with the Atma-sphere amps, these NOrdost cables could be so awful because of their high-ish characteristic impedance, rather than due to the materials used in their construction. OTOH, their cheapest wire (Flatwire), which is all-copper, sounded much better than the more expensive brethren. (Not "great", but tolerable.)
