There is only one type of 6AS7 that will perform reliably in Atma-Sphere amplifiers and that's the Russian 6AS7Gs. The most common Russian types are the Sovtek and Svetlana. All other types, and that includes the 6AS7GA, US made 6AS7G and 6080, simply can't exchange enough heat to avoid self destruction. Sure, they will work, but not for long. If you look in an RCA tube manual, under the 6AS7G, it clearly states this tube is "not recommended for fixed-bias service". The circlotron uses fixed-bias service. The Russian 6AS7G are far more rugged and seem to stand up very well in fixed-bias service.
