Hi Henry: When the UO was placed in my system first it was not a dramatic improvement it was sort of funky sounding but it gradually got better over a few weeks as it broke in. The AC10 was a big leap right out of the box, but it was used & probably already broken in. I suspect there is a synergy between it & the UO i.e. the UO probably facilitated the improvement. The other two pc s supplying the amp & preamp were also used so I didn't have much break in to contend with. Even the stock UO cord is probably a big step up from the sears ext. cord. I chose the AC-10 pc because of the good press it was getting, its well sheilded & because 1 came up for sale. Since the 1st was so good, I was afraid to buy anything else. Obviously, since I bought 3 of these used over a period of months, they don't suit everybody. One guy I purchased from said the synergistic master AC coupler was "more synergistic" with his ARC gear. You can hardly lose buying one used since they are in high demand & resale is easy. My only quibble is that The IEC connection is not real tight on the UO. My next step is probably to get a power director and sell the UO.
Hope this helps.
