Re: reducing gain with V2? jumpers

0

I tried doing this about a week ago. I have been experimenting bi-amping my Soundlabs and I wanted to reduce the gain on my MA1’s so that the output was a closer match to my Audio research VT150 Mono’s. The only thing with shorting V2 was that I felt a slight reduction in dynamics. This effect may not be so pronounced for you though as you are using horns.

In the end I put a 200k resistor in series with the single ended input (the XLR was needed for the VT150 amps. I estimated that this was a reduction of about 8dB.

I have given up on the bi-amp option. My Soundlabs cross over (depending upon components) between 250-500Hz, a very critical area. I have come to the conclusion that if you are going to bi-amp our amps with Soundlabs then the only real way is to use another OTL.
