Lew,The point of the high pass filter is to keep the bass out of the toroidal treble transformer, so that it does not saturate. You would have to bypass the filter with a big inductor, and bypass the bass transformer feed with a big capacitor (there is a selected inductor in series with the bass transformer to adjust the midrange response). Seems like a big mess.
Even if you do find a combination of L and C values to flatten the response, you now have to listen through these components. It might be easier and cleaner to sneak a bandpass filter into the (gasp! horror!) amplifier feedback path. I'm not volunteering to design it.
