You don't have to go back that far historically (or sonically) for that primitive strategy to set anti-skate. I believe that the VPI tonearms are similarly set up. Harry Weisfeld apparently also believes that sufficient anti-skating can be derived from the stiffness of the tonearm wires alone. From what I know, the VPI tonearms are pretty terrific-sounding, too.
