I have the ZEROs mounted on a piece of sheet metal which is attached inside the box with five screws. The drywall screws also go through the sheet metal so the weight is supported mostly by sheet metal, not by wood. The boxes are 1/2-inch thick hardwood and are very strong.Giving more thought to the "sonic signature" of the boxes: maybe it shouldn't have been a surprise that the bass is altered. The box is located directly behing the woofer and is in intimate contact with the speaker cabinet.
