Well, you are all correct. With Mark's suggestion of XLR to RCA adaptors the MP-1 hum is gone. Meanwhile, just in the last two weeks, out with the Toshiba DVD/CD player, in with the Sony DVP 9000es (1/3 off on Audiogon, new in the box); out with the Magnum Dynalab FT 101, in with the Magnum Dynalab 102 (also another good deal.) Woody Allen once said that the biggest sin in his family was to pay retail. In the near future, out with the PS Audio 200cx amp, in with a fully optioned MA1, MKII.2 at a killer price. Oh, no, its not Mr. Bill, its audiophile mania. Enjoy.
