..unless you have the MP3 disconnected from AC. The pin connections of the E182CC are different from the 12AU7, and various destructive things could result. The only parameter that the two types have in common is a similar mu. Moreover, any book or manual that suggested to you that these two types are directly interchangeable ought to be ignored in future. JJ makes a new tube type, the ECC99, that is similar in its operating parameters to the E182CC but does have the same pin-out as a 12AU7. However, even in that case, the ECC99 would require lots more current than the 12AU7 to operate properly in the MP3, necessitating circuit changes to obtain good results.
