Of course the Atma-Sphere MA-2 mkII.2 would be the best amplifier in the world to connect to a pair of Maggies. The MA-2 would be feeling all fat and happy driving the 4 ohm load. The M-60s will drive 45 watts into the maggies, but it is not the best match. The trick is to use an autoformer to convert the 4 ohm maggies up to 16 ohms. Then the M-60s will be in Heaven.
I have heard autoformers added to maggies in two different systems that were driven by M-60, and I have also heard autoformers added to Maggies that were driven by MA-1. The results were always very good. Click on the link below to see what Joe said about adding autoformers to his MG20s.
I have available a Do-it-Yourself autoformer called the ZERO, and I also have available a used pair of A-S Z Music autoformers. Atma-Sphere is working on their second generation Z-Music, but I don't know when it will be available.
