'FREDS switch much faster than conventional silicon diodes, so the don't generate anywhere near the same amount of switching noise. This noise sounds like a low-level buzz usually heard only in your midrange and tweeters and only if you get your ears up close to your speakers. This noise can mask low-level detail in your music.I don't know anything about whether the 1 uF cap is no longer used to bypass the 100 uF across the plates of V4. If it's not there, it sure can't hurt to add it. A RelCap Teflon is way overkill. It's just a bypass cap and not passing audio. Any good quality 1 uF poly should do very well in this application.
I won't begin to tell you what to do about bypassing coupling caps. Personally, I have yet to hear a sonic improvement. Perhaps it's because I like to us a good quality coupling cap that doesn't benefit from bypassing.
