You can buy tip jacks from places like Mouser Electronics and similar sources. There are two types, one basic and the other a bit more attractive. You must drill two 1/4" holes adjacent each 6SA7G to accommodate the jacks. These are the positive jacks and should be hooked up to each plate pin on all the 6AS7Gs, pins 2 & 5. You'll need two more jacks, to pick up the other side of the resistors, one per phase. They can be located about anywhere convenient on the chassis. These are the negative connections.If a 6AS7G is out of spec, then you're out of luck. I have yet to find a vendor that will take returns from tubes that aren't matched well. If you have a factory defect, I've had luck with New Sensor accepting returns.
No, the driver do not need to be installed during the pre-conditioning period, but be absolutely sure not to go out of standby. With the V4 out of circuit, there will be no bias on the output tubes and they could will pull full plate current. Meltdown may result.
