"Over biasing", or excessive plate current, is most certainly hard on a 6AS7G. There are no sonic disadvantages, however. Higher plate current means more power and a higher dampening factor. These are usually considered as desirable attributes.

"Under biasing", or lower plate current, results in lower power, higher output tube life and lower dampening factor. It also effects the sonics resulting in the dreaded "hole in the middle" kind of sound.

It doesn't matter which Atma-Sphere amp you have, which version or vintage. Each individual 6AS7G Russian triode does best at an average of 75 mA of plate current. This is about the maximum average plate current that will allow superior longevity and is best in terms of power output and dampening factor. As is always the case. All things in design are compromises. On one side it's power output and dampening factor. On the other side it's longevity.
