After the subsequant meltdown and replacement of the diodes in my MA1's I have one amp that is extremely susceptable to hum, I can usually get it to go away by playing with the driver tubes. Tubes that are dead quiet in one amp will not nessesarily be so in the other. My amps are still under warranty. I need to add that when new I tried 46 different Sovtek 6sn7's and was never able to get a match that elimintaed hum. The purchase of Phillips eliminated that but sounded bad--I thought the Russian tubes sounded better. NOS tubes were always dead quiet until the warranty service to replace the diodes.
Question: I was told that running DC on the filament supply would dry out the sound, can anyone comment on this and is this has solved you hum problem?
Question: Anyone have any further suggestions?
Thanks, Walt
