Noisy gain trim pot

One gain trim pot on my MP-3 was very noisy. I gave it a shot of "Tuner Control Cleaner and Lubricant" from Radio Shack - problem solved! The lubricant in this stuff is mineral oil. Does anyone have any thoughts as to how safe this is to use?
