Paul's fine articles notwithstanding, I like to burn-in my 6336 filaments for at least 48 hours continuous, before applying B+. A tube tester would make this process very slow. Also, I have three tube testers that will test a 6336. The filament wants so much current, that I don't think it would be wise to leave the tube lit up for an extended period. Tubes testers just aren't designed for this kind of service.I've found an actual amplifier is best to burn-in output tube filaments. They will certainly withstand the duty cycle. Once the filaments are preconditioned, I very slowly increase 6336 plate current until it's up at 120 mA per triode average. This slow plate current application process takes about a month.
