My MA-1 was a MK I version for about a year before
I upgraded it to a MK II version. I like the
6SN7s much better than the 12AU7s and 12AT7s. They
sound much better and are more reliable.Aside from more power, the MA-1 has much more
output and driver supply filtering. This too
improves the sound.Of course, you may upgrade the M-60 MK II power
supplies to be on par with the MA-1 supplies. You
may also run the MA-1 with just eight output
tubes and it will perform much like an MA-60 with
better supply filtering.
