I've tried many aftermarket cords (JPS, Kimber, VansEvers etc.) the best is common 16 gauge lamp cord (brown sounds better tham black) from the local hardware store. Be sure to pick up some of those clip-on plug ends ( for some reason the clear plastic ones sound "cleaner" to my ears)good luck!!
