Hello,I'm using a Solo brand copper foil inductor in a speaker crossover. As you probably know, the coil is comprised of a flat, insulated ribbon of metal wound into a small roll. One lead comes from the outside of the roll, the other from the inside.
As this is a first-order crossover, the coil is the only component in the woofer filter. I'll be placing it in series between the positive speaker terminal and the positive lug of the woofer.
My question is, should I wire the coil so the outside lead connects to the speaker terminal, or should I have the inside lead of the coil connected the speaker terminal?
What difference does this make, and is there a preferred way of doing it?
Thanks in advance,
K.T.
