the JBL 2470 is a great driver. Give it a try and compare, and go with what you like. The 806 was not Altec's best effort. Sounds like someone swapped out either the 806/xover or the horn at some point as the 511 was usually mated with an 802/500 hz xover and the 806/800 hz combo was usually used in conjunction with a 811 horn. Like Tom said, however the parts used will work fine together.
