When the room is no longer infinite but of finite size then modal effects will begin to dominate up to some frequency which is room size and damping dependent (the Schroeder Freq - Fs). In the modal region the entire horn is really just part of the room modes and any attempt to talk about wave propagation etc. is misleading. Above Fs a wave will begin to actually have the characteristics of a propagating wave. Below the Fs horns, enclosures whatever simply become part of the room and perhaps change the modal pattern a little and maybe the modal frequencies, but otherwise little else is affected by the horn, etc. There is no such things as wave propagation as we know it below Fs. The room builds to steady state standing wave within only a few cycles. We perceive only a steady state sound field. For a mathematical treatment of this topic you can see Morse, "Vibration and Sound" where he derives the radiation impedance for a source in a room. At LF its basically just the modes.
