Of course you are listening to the player and this is where all the problems come from. Just like Charles rightfully pointed out, it all depends on many other things, not only the transport.

The initial post on this thread, as well as the post with the pictures on my site, concerns the VRDS-NEO digital transport module only, not an entire player. The point is that nothing comes even remotely close to the VRDS-NEO transport/DSP module, which is the truth.
You are welcome to research online what people have to say about the new Spectral SDR4000S ($25K) and how it compares to Esoteric UX-3 ($10K). These have the same VRDS-NEO inside but apparently are in different leagues, both price and performance-wise.

The VRDS-NEO has an enormous potential but it really depends on how it will be utilized. Even Esoteric’s own UX-1, X-01 and P-01/D-01 combo offer different performance. These ALL have the same big VRDS-NEO inside.
