Thanks again, KA1. Sadly, my friend is really cash-strapped (I feel guilty about introducing him to SACD, as a matter of fact) and that's why I'm looking for a solution that I can organise myself. I have worked out quite a lot of the circuit myself already. It's finding a suitable infrared decoder to do what I want that's the problem at the moment. I'll look into that Sony TA-P9000ES and see what it's like.
