"Okay, point 1 was a little glib, but you are firmly in the area of diminishing returns due to system noise. As an extreme example, it is difficult to make detailed quality judgements with in-car-ent when travelling at speed due to wind/tyre noise: to make it easier to hear the music, radio stations use dynamic range compression. Now, we obviously don't want to do this, so let's get rid of the noise."To better enjoy the sonic quality we need a silent care and a silent engine.
And guess what? The engine has just become more silent and also runs smoother! Now it will be easier to identify the noises from the car and adress these particular problems.
But for the purists out there: some music is best enjoyed with the roaring engine mixed in.
