Why? Such a solution might save me from buying a headphone amp and creating more clutter.
I will be using them a lot, and might use them to check the sound of live simple stereo miked acoustic concert recordings. Only IF I go back to volunteering for a local 'Community FM' station. Spare time is the factor.
And * ? Because the powered monitors are old Yamaha MS20S, which will be supplemented by used but serviced Fostex powered subs. The MS20S are going in for Poogeing soon. More class-A, new PSU caps, better signal caps and Rs. Plus felt around the tweeters.
The PC has RealTek sound module, with surround.

Note that am not persuaded that good clear flat FR 'phones, need to be expensive.
