I'd like to recommend an excellent pair of lightweight, low-mass, foldable headphones for well-traveled audiophiles. I couldn't be more pleased with a new pair of Bowers & Wilkins P3 portable headphones. It's easy to forget they are small on-ear headphones. Other than a reasonable mid-bass peak due to a lack of prominent lower-bass as would be expected from small on-ear headphones, the rest of the sonic spectrum is totally pristine; very crisp sounding; uncolored.
During my P3 evaluation vs. larger over-ear headphones in my collection, I still find myself immersed in the sound, with no great concern over the lack of push in the lower octaves, not unlike that of a limited low frequency stand-mount monitor. I expect I'll order an over-ear Bowers & Wilkins pair of headphones someday, since it can only get better than the P3 for home audio use, with a bigger bottom-end involved.
