I recently got a pair of the Hifiman HE1000 beta for testing and listening. I would say without reservation that they compare to the best there is and I was shocked at how different they sound, all in a good way. Extremely effortless and not difficult to drive.
As a planar headphone, they have, IMO, bridged the gap between dynamic and electrostatic in speed, resolution, soundstage and solid bass.
If you have a chance, they are worth a listen. I am using a Richard Marsh DIY amp for most of my listening.
Source is the Chord Hugo to my DIY headphone amp using 16/44 to DSD.
