Yeah, I just noticed the price reduction of the FD7. Over the holidays the FD7 remained at $600 while the FDX had been reduced to $493. I guess they've seen the error of their ways and finally dropped the price of the FD7, too.

On the other hand, there is another difference between the two, which I believe improves the sound of the FDX over the FD7. The FDX has the gold, silver, and copper wire whereas the FD7 has the silver wire only. I bought the special three metal wire for my FD7 and it seemed to make a noticeable improvement in bass performance. Therefore, the FDX might be the better deal because of the different wire. However, the two sound identical to me when using the same wire.

Both of these earphones represent the best sounding earphones I've ever heard and I'm very happy with them.
