If there is such a thing for endgame earbuds, I think these are them for me. I have the Shure SE1200 electrostatics and while they sound better than the SE846 overall, when you factor in the electrostatic box and the tediousness of using and charging it, the SE846 get used all the time. Also the sound is just really good. Bass hits and soundstage is there if your source has it. I have 3 boxes that alter the sound (Black Ice soundstage expander, BBE Sonic Maximizer and the Hafler amp has a bass boost) and man it all makes these sound great.
Though I don't really use them in a portable application so that may be different for everyone else....
