is there anybody besides myself that would like to see a rebirth of the HD414s? I loved mine when I had them but wished the headband had more squeeze. the earpads are still available and are often put on Grado headphones for improvement. as I remember, the wire was easily changed as it was a plug-in.

a headband reinforced with metal to increase the pressure on the cans themselves would improve bass response. in order to get that, i used to press the cans to my ears but that was distracting and precluded doing anything else like maybe reading the HiFi mags that we all like.

my proposal is to keep them exactly the same except for the headband which is to be reinforced with spring metal for more pressure. if more extended hf response is possible without adding brightness, fine. maybe a more formidable plug (or not) into the cans and nicer wire as seems to be ubiquitous in today's headphones.
