I can heartily recommend the 650 cable upgrade and you can order it directly from Sennheiser USA for about $20 or so, if I recall correctly. The sonic improvements are subtle (but noticeable). But the best part is that the connector plugs are much sturdier than those on the stock 580/600 cable - and I'm betting that the intermittent connection will be gone once a new cable is installed.
