I just bought the Denon DVD-1600. The DVD Video is great but plain old CDs are terrible. Way too bright. Highs on Miles Davis' "So What" from "Kind of Blue" are screechy to the point of being painful. Same with Brubeck's "Take Five". For regular CDs this thing is unlistenable. I am goign to keep it just for DVD play but I am looking elsewhere for something to play CDs and SACDs. I'd like to find something that just does CDs and SACD really well so I am paying for audio instead of a universal player where I am paying for DVD-V. I could be wrong but I don't see DVD-A having a future.
