I don't know, I think most of this stuff is geared at people who think they can't hear a difference, just like Sony's microsystem with SACD. And my guess is that, with those microsystems, it's hard to hear a difference.What does your closing sentences mean? That there will be lower-cost DVD-Video only players, unable to decode MLP? It's hardly news.
Dunno, I'd like to see a worthy replacement for Technics DVD-A10 (or what was its name). As the main mass-market provider of DVD-A only (not universal) players, I think they should provide us with such a product.
