How can I resist answering one who bears the name of my favourite motorbike :-)1. The DVD-V section of a DVD-A is just like any other DVD-V. If your DAC can’t accept Dolby Digital and/or DTS then you need to convert those to PCM, and the resolution would of course depend of the converter. I think it’s impossible to tell what the original resolution was, but generally the bitrate is 1509 kbps for DTS and 448 kbps for DD, but some DVD-A’s has a 24/96 DTS mix which I assume would result in more than 1509 kbps?
2. Correct. Perhaps if you get one with digital firewire output you will be able to buy firewire DAC’s in the future.
3. Look at 1.
