The Y/C problem is most likely a software issue with the silicon image progressive chip.
These higher end Denon's are all firmware upgradeable through cdrom.
They did solve some issues with the current series with upgrades.
But alas nothing is perfect.
The issues unearthed by Secrets are countered by the fact that the 3800 and A1 have much better video section overall.

The new DVDO iScan ultra stand alone converter which uses the same Silicon image deinterlacer chip is having an option to adjust the Y/C delay.

But to be sure wait a bit longer for the reviews.
There is also time alignment for DVD Audio and better BM than the 1600 has.
