Your logic implies that if poor analog hardware exists for processing audio then analog will be a scam too.

The analog processing equipment was selected for authenicity and 'vintage' sound.
In this particular case it was also far easier to setup the analog route with available equipment for the mixdown. (within the given time frame).For productions requiring far less 'processing' the digital mixing route makes more sense.
