Hit a snag: WMA Lossless will NOT encode 5.1 at either 44.1 or 88.2 sample rates, nor will it encode 2.0 at 192. My current solution is to store these files uncompressed (ouch!)On the plus side - apparently convolver will support up to 7.1 channels (yippee) but you need a hefty CPU to do room correction with 65536 taps on multi-channel.
Another plus - you don't even need a PC to listen to hi-rez audio anywhere in the house. You can buy a wireless Squeezebox which accepts WMA Lossless as input.
Wow - I now wish there are a LOT more DVD-Audios released. I was so desperate I even started browsing through DualDiscs on the Internet yesterday to look for more titles, but couldn't find a single title I was willing to purchase (except maybe for Talking Heads). Most of the DualDiscs that I would consider buying appears to be from Sony, and therefore no hi-rez content. Bummer.
