Using HD 841 for stereo

Am I correct that for 2 channel stereo you have to feed the Samsung HF-841/Toshiba 3960 into a 5.1 HT receiver? The way I understand it I can't get stereo out of the HD841 if I just hook it up to my 2 channel stereo amplifier?
