The majority of DVD Videos with DTS tracks is running at half bit rate (768kbits/second). There are a few that are running at full bit rate (1.536 mbits/second). DTS 24/96 uses the 1.5 mbits/second rate, with 1.1 Mbits/second for the standard payload (24/48K sampling) and 384 kbits/second for the extension (24/96K sampling). So DTS24/96 is an improvement over half rate, but not quite as good as full rate.
